Youth Climate Corps BC Launches First Season in Victoria

Youth Climate Corps BC (YCCBC) is launching its first program in Victoria, expanding opportunities for young people to lead climate action while building skills and careers in British Columbia's growing green economy.

The 2026 Victoria team includes two local mobilizers, Fynn La Boucan and Sydney Robertson, who will work from July 13th 2026, to October 30th 2026. Throughout the season, participants will gain hands-on experience in land conservation and ecosystem stewardship across Southern Vancouver Island.

Working alongside the BC Parks Foundation land conservation team, participants will conduct biodiversity surveys, support invasive species removal and habitat restoration, and assist with remote camera monitoring and environmental data collection. 

Beyond fieldwork, participants will help expand future YCCBC programming in the region by mapping community needs, building relationships with local organizations and employers, and researching partnership and funding opportunities. By combining direct conservation work with community engagement, participants will help strengthen regional environmental stewardship while identifying new pathways for youth employment. 

The program reflects YCCBC’s commitment to equipping young people with practical skills and meaningful connections as they build careers in the climate and conservation sector. The Victoria program represents another milestone in YCCBC's expansion across British Columbia, creating new opportunities for youth to contribute to environmental health on Vancouver Island. 

Local efforts like those planned for Victoria are part of YCCBC’s growing province-wide impact. As the organization continues to expand, YCCBC is equipping young people with the skills, experience, and confidence needed to address climate challenges, helping communities build resilience while preparing the next generation of climate and conservation leaders.
