Welcome to the July edition of the Youth Climate Corps BC Expressions newsletter! This month has been full of learning as our teams work in communities across the province. On the operations side, things are as busy as ever as we're launching our first-ever program in Richmond as well as in Victoria, returning to Kamloops, and opening a new apprenticeship opportunity with the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre.

This June, our teams in the Kootenays, Squamish, Vernon, Kelowna, Courtenay, and Alert Bay are already hard at work delivering climate action projects and community events. We're also excited to welcome the Co-Leads for our Richmond and Kamloops programs, who are preparing to launch their seasons and welcome a new cohort of mobilizers.

This month, Youth Climate Corps programs launched in the Kootenays, Squamish, Vernon, Kelowna, Courtenay, and Alert Bay. At the same time, YCCBC is actively hiring for programs in Richmond, Kamloops, and Victoria. Our 2026 summer season is the largest in YCCBC history. Thanks to this growth, we’ve been able to hire more young people than ever before — and even more opportunities are still on the horizon this summer.

April marks a key moment for Youth Climate Corps BC as we kick off the 2026 program season. This month, we welcomed new Co-Leads across our Squamish, Kelowna, Courtenay, and Vernon programs, strengthening our presence in communities across the province. In this edition, we share highlights from our Earth Day engagements in Ottawa, growing national momentum, and recent connections from Montréal to Hazelton.

Youth Climate Corps BC is gearing up for a new season of programs, shaking off the winter frost and preparing to grow, connect, and bloom this season. It’s an in-between season for YCCBC. Our fall programs have wrapped up, and while our summer crews are still a few months away from launching, our work continues behind the scenes.

Youth Climate Corps British Columbia is back for 2026, and we're kicking the year off with exciting new opportunities in the Kootenay region and important new insights from our end-of-season reports.

As we enter the final days of 2025, the year is mainly in the rearview mirror, and we wanted to use this time to reflect on and express gratitude. Thank you for your continued support of YCCBC.

November has been a month of meaningful progress and recognition for Youth Climate Corps BC. Our Kelowna team is experiencing a productive and educational first season, gaining valuable hands-on learning in the field. At the same time, YCCBC met with Premier Eby to discuss the future of our organization, and the recent federal budget has committed $40 million to establishing a national Youth Climate Corps.

Fall tends to be a slower season at Youth Climate Corps BC, but while things may seem quieter on the surface, our operations continue in full swing. In this month's newsletter, you’ll find highlights from YCCBC’s 2025 season, including recognition from government leaders, media outlets, and sustainability influencers, plus details on a new program launch and a behind-the-scenes look at our Hazelton team in action.

As the seasons shift and leaves begin to turn, YCCBC is turning a new leaf, too. This fall, our Vernon, Courtenay, and Squamish programs are coming to a close, and we’re celebrating unique collaborations, organizational milestones, and exciting media coverage along the way. The dog days of summer are ending, and so are many of YCCBC's 2025 programs. With seven active programs, this season was our busiest one yet. Thank you to everyone who made this amazing summer possible.

The month of July means full steam ahead at YCCBC. From Northern Vancouver Island to Vernon, all of our teams are working hard in their communities to promote climate resilience and learn important employable skills.

May has meant the start of our 2025 season at YCCBC. We've planted and watered our garden over the past few months, and now it's begun to bloom.

2024 is drawing to a close. For YCCBC, this past year was one of unprecedented growth. This year, our team expanded rapidly, our projects f
