Climate Friendly Homes Program

The Climate Friendly Homes Program (CFHP) is a free preliminary assessment program offered by Youth Climate Corps BC Vancouver and is specifically tailored for residents of the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood. The Climate Friendly Homes Program focuses on educating homeowners and renters on various climate-related topics, including available rebates, the benefits of heat pumps, creating healthy landscapes, and fostering community networks. Additionally, we are committed to supporting seniors by equipping them with resources to navigate extreme heat events and fostering mutual aid networks within the community.

You can easily register online to schedule a home visit. During this visit, our dedicated YCCBC Vancouver cohort of Climate Action Technicians will spend 45 minutes to 1 hour asking questions and evaluating your homes.

Allow us to introduce our dedicated Vancouver crew, led by coordinator Sam Kutyauripo. Together with three passionate crew members, Liana, Luca and Kayley, we are proud to launch the first-ever Youth Climate Corps Program in Vancouver.

“Youth Climate Corps BC creates inclusive and dynamic spaces for young people to take action to address the climate crisis. It is crucial that youth are empowered and have opportunities to become skilled in climate adaptation and mitigation work, at a living wage. YCCBC has designed a model for living wage employment that can support the careers of youth as they make meaningful impacts on the environment.I am excited for YCCBC to work with the Vancouver-Hastings climate action team and bring tangible climate action to this vibrant community. - Niki Sharma

Engaging for a Greener Future

Our journey takes us through a spectrum of projects that contribute to a greener Vancouver. From supporting seniors during extreme heat to promoting recycling on construction sites, we are committed to driving positive change.

Join the Movement

Youth have the power to ignite change and shape a brighter future. At YCCBC Vancouver, we invite young people to join our movement, where they can be agents of positive change and drive resilience within our community.

Together, let's embrace the challenges of climate change and pave the way for a greener and more sustainable Vancouver.

Empowering Partnerships

We are thrilled to collaborate with esteemed partners such as Eon Electric, the Cycling Hub, and the Vancouver-Hastings Climate Action Team, among others. These partnerships amplify our efforts and expand our reach as we work towards a sustainable and resilient future.

Driving Climate Resilience

In collaboration with the City of Vancouver's Climate Action Team, led by Niki Sharma, and Eon Electric we are embarking on impactful projects that enhance climate resilience and community engagement.

Community Resilience and Engagement Project

Our team is dedicated to supporting vulnerable seniors during heat domes by distributing cooling kits and enrolling them in a program for assistance. By reaching out to their doors, we are fostering community connections and ensuring their well-being.

Recycling on Construction Sites

We're committed to promoting sustainable practices within the construction industry. Through recycling initiatives on construction sites, we aim to reduce waste and minimize our environmental footprint.

Energy Efficiency Apprenticeship

As part of our energy efficiency initiatives, we will be shadowing apprentices in the energy sector. This hands-on experience will provide insights into the sector's practices and opportunities for sustainable innovation.

Within Youth Climate Corps, crew members are between 17-30 years old; they earn wages, gain work experience, build networks, and develop themselves personally and professionally. Meanwhile, they complete projects that both benefit their own communities and support global efforts to act on the climate crisis.

If you or your organization wants to learn more about how to team up with us and move forward on projects in your community, or if you are interested in funding one of our projects related to our different focus areas, we are here to support you.
