YOUTH CLIMATE CORPS BC - KAMLOOPS
The Youth Climate Corps BC (YCCBC) Kamloops program invests in local youth while helping build a more resilient, sustainable, and prepared community. The program empowers young people to take meaningful local climate action while building leadership, career, and community engagement skills. Through hands-on projects across the community, participants contribute to climate resilience, environmental stewardship, and emergency preparedness. Key activities include promoting FireSmart BC through public education and outreach; undertaking wildfire risk reduction projects for local non-profits and public lands, including the BC Wildlife Park; supporting environmental stewardship through trail maintenance and restoration projects; delivering bike valet services that encourage sustainable transportation; and assisting with the activation of emergency social services when needed.
The program is made possible through financial support from the City of Kamloops, the Province of British Columbia, Youth Climate Corps BC, and grant funding from Intact Insurance.

Land Acknowledgment
The YCCBC Kamloops team works and lives on the traditional, ancestral, unceded, and continually occupied territory of the Secwépemc people. Secwépemc peoples have lived on and cared for these lands and waters since time immemorial.
The Secwépemc name for this beautiful place is Tk̓emlúps, meaning "where the rivers meet," reflecting the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers. This territory is home to, and continues to hold, the histories, cultures, and stories of the Secwépemc people. We encourage you to learn more about Secwépemc territory, history, and governance through Indigenous-led resources and community organizations.

Within Youth Climate Corps, crew members are between 17-30 years old; they earn wages, gain work experience, build networks, and develop themselves personally and professionally. Meanwhile, they complete projects that both benefit their own communities and support global efforts to act on the climate crisis.
