Youth Climate Corps (YCCBC) is happy to share our 2024 Vancouver report which outlines the amazing work done this year by YCCBC's first ever Vancouver crew. In collaboration with the City of Vancouver, Eon Electric, Vancouver Hastings Community Action Team, HUB Vancouver, and Ducks Unlimited, YCCBC facilitated several transformative programs aimed to empower the city's young people in the fight against climate change.

From August 2023 to March 2024 YCCBC employed a coordinator and three young people as Climate Action Technicians (CATs) who together completed over 500 working days of climate action in the Vancouver area. Over the course of the program the CATs expanded their knowledge and skillsets, promoted community engagement, and facilitated ecosystem resilience. All while earning a livable wage.

A undoubtable highlight of the year was the development of the Vancouver Climate Friendly Homes Program (CFHP), intended to provide the resources and education needed to make the homes of Vancouver residents more comfortable, resilient, and climate friendly. The CATs were responsible to the design of the CFHP toolbox and hope to expand the CFHP framework to other communities.

We at the YCCBC team are so proud of our Vancouver crew and are grateful for the generous support of our youth empowerment initiatives. We encourage you explore the report to learn more about the amazing work accomplished by this team. From personal stories to performance metrics it highlights the power of young people to make meaningful change when provided the necessary support.

Thank you for sharing this update. It’s great to see young people making a positive impact in their communities and contributing to important causes. Initiatives like these show how dedication and teamwork can create meaningful change. Similarly, many people also look for support when preparing for new opportunities, such as using CV writing companies UK to help present their skills and experience clearly.

We are committed to maintaining and growing respectful relationships in every region where we work.

YCCBC recognizes that colonization has deeply disrupted Indigenous Peoples’ relationships with their lands, communities, and cultural practices. We understand that the climate crisis is rooted in ongoing systems of colonialism and resource extraction—systems that became possible through the dispossession of Indigenous Peoples from their homelands.

We believe that Indigenous sovereignty is essential to building just futures and liveable worlds. YCCBC is committed to listening, learning, and walking in solidarity with Indigenous communities and to supporting Indigenous-led climate action across the province.

ABOUT US

Youth Climate Corps BC develops the climate leaders of tomorrow by training a workforce of young people who know how to work together, communicate powerfully, and get things done on projects that contribute to climate resilience in communities across British Columbia.
