We are thrilled to welcome Jocelyn Carver to the YCCBC team as our Interim Executive Director while Ben Simoni takes his parental leave. Based in the traditional and unceded territories of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, and Syilx peoples (Nelson, BC), Jocelyn (she/her) has been involved as an advisor and supporter of Youth Climate Corps BC since 2021.

Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Jocelyn’s first ‘real’ job as a teenager was launching the eastern branch of a national youth environmental organization, and she’s excited to see this come full circle with Youth Climate Corps BC.

Throughout her life, Jocelyn has loved to be of service in environments that bring people together to do meaningful work on behalf of communities and the planet, including environmental justice initiatives, alternative education and media, community economic development, employment and more.

Jocelyn Carver is the past Executive Director of Kootenay Career Development Services, a regional charitable organization delivering employment programs and financial supports to residents of BC’s Southern Interior. She is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Columbia Basin Trust, a unique crown corporation delivering social, economic and environmental benefits to residents of BC’s Columbia Basin.

Prior to her current roles, Jocelyn spent 18 years working in cooperative development and social enterprise sectors as a founding member and senior manager, including founding Board Chair of Kootenay Co-op Radio, Board member of the Upper Columbia Cooperative Council, and Human Resource and Member Outreach/Marketing manager at Canada’s largest independent consumer food cooperatives.

We are truly excited to have Jocelyn as part of our team!
