We are incredibly proud of the work carried out by the 2024 Youth Climate Corps BC cohort on Northern Vancouver Island. Earlier this summer, local filmmaker Brian Hockenstein joined Humdzi’di – Amber Alfred and her dedicated team as they worked on The Kwakwaka'wakw Revitalization Project. This initiative is committed to enhancing food security and strengthening land rights for the Kwakwaka'wakw People.
Since the beginning, the work done by YCCBC's Northern Vancouver Island team has emphasized the importance of land stewardship, working alongside locals to address challenges and honour triumphs in BC's Indigenous communities. In this short film, we sought to document the incredible resilience and innovation of the Kwakwaka'wakw People, and YCCBC's mission to uplift their essential work.
Through film, we hope to share YCCBC's mission to empower youth and engage them in meaningful projects that address environmental and social justice issues. In hands-on training and community involvement, our cohorts learn essential skills that will help them become leaders in climate resilience and sustainability.
We invite you to learn more about the YCCBC's Northern Vancouver Island program and how our young leaders are making a difference in their communities. Your support can help amplify these vital efforts and contribute to a more sustainable future for all.
