Youth Climate Corps BC (YCCBC) is thrilled to announce its bold commitment to addressing systemic oppression and enhancing workplace wellbeing with the hiring of Donna Hall as the Director of People and Culture. Donna, a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and a Certified Executive Coach (CEC), joins us with over 15 years of experience in the non-profit, cooperative, and post-secondary education sectors.

Donna’s appointment comes at a time of significant expansion for YCCBC. Thanks to recent funding from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, we are able to grow YCCBC’s operations by onboarding talented new team members such as Donna. In this newly created role, Donna will be responsible for shaping the position of Director of People and Culture, ensuring our people practices and processes align with our values, with a primary focus on the wellbeing of our employees.

Beyond her extensive experience, we value Donna’s commitment to fostering connection and community. We aim to further embody her perspective on the intersectionality of systemic oppression and workplace health, recognizing that systems of oppression not only contribute to the climate crisis but also create unhealthy work environments. As YCCBC grows, we are confident that Donna’s intersectional approach to creating safe work environments will further permeate all levels of the organisation. As YCCBC strives to create a better future for young people through well-paid, fulfilling jobs, the importance of intersectionality and supportive work environments remains at the heart of our mission.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Donna is a passionate lover of the natural world. Above all else, she finds joy in being in the ocean with her Sheltie pup, Liza. We are delighted to welcome Donna to YCCBC.

We are committed to maintaining and growing respectful relationships in every region where we work.

YCCBC recognizes that colonization has deeply disrupted Indigenous Peoples’ relationships with their lands, communities, and cultural practices. We understand that the climate crisis is rooted in ongoing systems of colonialism and resource extraction—systems that became possible through the dispossession of Indigenous Peoples from their homelands.

We believe that Indigenous sovereignty is essential to building just futures and liveable worlds. YCCBC is committed to listening, learning, and walking in solidarity with Indigenous communities and to supporting Indigenous-led climate action across the province.

We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Energy and Climate Solutions.

ABOUT US

Youth Climate Corps BC develops the climate leaders of tomorrow by training a workforce of young people who know how to work together, communicate powerfully, and get things done on projects that contribute to climate resilience in communities across British Columbia.
