Sophie Groll

Sophie is an environmental professional living on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Story

Sophie's interest in the environment and climate change was sparked by her eight years spent outdoors at summer camp as a child. With a background in environmental economics, policy analysis, and research, she recognizes two major challenges in addressing human-induced climate change: the scale and speed of action necessary to mitigate and adapt to a warming world. However, a third crucial aspect is the immense coordination required to make this happen. This is where Sophie sees YCCBC as a key player in accelerating action, fostering partnerships, and empowering the next generation of leaders to achieve climate goals. She's passionate about connecting people, building local capacity, and using a combination of stories and data to drive action. Sophie understands the urgent task ahead to address climate change. Being part of YCCBC allows her to contribute ideas, build new friendships, broaden her understanding of climate action in BC, and witness positive change at both local and regional levels.
