Mackenzie Kuenz

Mackenzie Kuenz (she/her) grew up on Tsuut’ina and W̱SÁNEĆ territories and is now based on the unceded and occupied territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and səlilwətaɬ nations. Mackenzie is a climate justice educator and community organizer.

Story

To Mackenzie Climate Change is a symptom of a sick system and to address sickness she believes you need to go to the root. Mackenzie is a recent graduate from the University of British Columbia where she studied climate justice and coastal communties in Latin America. Her studies brought her to connect climate justice to agroecology, environmental conflicts, and marine protected areas. Now fluent in Spanish and Portuguese Mackenzie is passionate about transnational solidarity networks and resisting injustice everywhere.

These days Mackenzie is exploring how arts and culture can be used to mobilize climate justice through Ritmos Climáticos. She is keen to bring climate communications to people far and wide and believes arts and culture can play a key role. We need everyone included in social transformation for our climate just and liberated futures. You can find Mackenzie at the beach or dancing and singing with her friends. She can teach you how to dance salsa, samba, bachata, forró, arrocha and more. Let's dance together through it all.
