Story
With a passion for environmental education and fostering outdoor experiences, Heather has had the privilege of working with Fireside Adventures to co-develop climate change curriculum for and lead the pilot expeditions of World Bound Canada and World Bound Ecuador. Additionally, Heather acted as the Principal Instructor in Vancouver Outdoor School’s Upper Fieldschool during its first year, designing a climate change curriculum that checked off BC high school requirements while being 100% outdoor and experiential. Currently, Heather is working as an Environmental Education Teacher at SD54 Bulkley Valley, where she focuses on creating meaningful learning experiences for students from kindergarten to grade 7. She is also actively involved in the Skeena Watershed Conservation Society, developing tools and curriculum for hands-on learning on topics such as freshwater monitoring and salmon science. She is excited about the potential of YCCBC to create opportunities for youth in attainable and impactful work in climate change action.
