Calvin Beauchesne
My name is Calvin Beauchesne. I hold a BA in Environmental Studies and MA in Sustainability Studies from Trent University. I led the fossil fuel divestment campaign on my campus from 2012-2016. I wrote my masters thesis on the effectiveness of different tactics and strategies of opposition to the Trans Mountain pipeline.
Story
I’ve volunteered for different environmental groups over the years including My Sea to Sky, Dogwood BC and Neighbours United. I was responsible for Golden committing to 100% renewable energy by 2050 and I got Powell River to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. I also acquired a grant from Columbia Basin Trust to finish installing solar panels on Golden Secondary School. I’m on the Board of Directors of Wildsight Golden and Coordinator of the Climate Action Taskforce. I work as the Air Quality Coordinator for Wildsight Golden and Electric Vehicle Car Share Coordinator for Golden Community Resources Society. I am running in the 2024 provincial election as the BC Green Candidate for Columbia River Revelstoke. In my spare time I like to go ice climbing, rock climbing, ski touring, play guitar and cook.
