Avery Deboer-Smith

Based in the traditional and unceded territories of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, and Syilx peoples, Avery (she/her) is on the Board of Directors and has been involved in Youth Climate Corps BC since the beginning.

Story

Avery has an extensive background in environmental management. Her master’s research focuses on our connections to the environment, and her professional work emphasizes collaboration around difficult climate change problems. 

 

“Being a part of the Youth Climate Corps BC is an opportunity for me to support the creation of a better future for the leaders of tomorrow. Working collaboratively with a youth-led vision is a dream come true and is the paradigm shift we need to shape a more climate resilient future.”

 

Avery has worked extensively with non-profits in a variety of capacities and has always had a focus on youth engagement and action. She is excited to bring her passion and knowledge to ensure the success and growth of Youth Climate Corps BC.
