Position: Visual Content Intern
Location: Nelson, British Columbia, Canada
Term: Contract for June & July 2022, possibility of extension

The Visual Content Creator will work in a team to support the communication strategy of Youth Climate Corps. The Visual Content Creator will create captivating visual content/stories that attract, engage, and align with the organization's strategic goals to support provincial growth by generating brand awareness. 

 

The Visual Content Creator will develop photography, videography, and graphic design to support Youth Climate Corps’ communication via social media platforms, website blog, and newsletters and is open using different venues according to the various marketing campaigns undertaken by the communication team. We encourage all staff to think strategically, brainstorm, and plan with the team. The Visual Content Creator must have a sense of esthetic aptitudes and an understanding of climate action. 

 

The Visual Content Creator will have to be a compassionate and active communicator and connect and communicate with colleagues and partners remotely and in person. The role is hybrid remote/in person, and there is plenty of flexibility for self-directed work and schedule. Mentorship and coaching are a strong theme in Youth Climate Corps activities and programs, including working with administrative staff. There is a culture of continual learning, and there are opportunities for mentorship, both as a mentee and mentor.

Climate Action Visual Content Intern Responsibilities

Assist the Marketing Director and the Editor in building, managing and optimizing a cross-platform editorial calendar that supports the various marketing campaigns and the overall objectives of the organization; 

 

Produce and edit digital visual content, including photography, videography and graphic design, to optimize Youth Climate Corps credibility; 

 

Research, organize and uniform the existing visual content of Youth Climate Corps. 

 

Support the communication team to publish and distribute content via newsletters, blog posts, press releases, social media posts, and specific funding campaigns;

 

Edit & approve store images & videos for use on the website.

Climate Action Visual Content Intern Qualifications

Must be under 30 years old;

 

Experienced in photography and digital video creation, editing and finalizing using professional software; 

 

Experienced in complete visual content creation and optimization from beginning to end; 

 

Knowledge about social media, graphic design, brand identity, photography, and videography;

 

Understanding of climate justice issues;

 

Highly organized and able to juggle multiple projects based on priority;

 

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;

 

Proven understanding of communications and marketing ethics and best practices;

 

Owner of photo and video equipment;

 

Available to travel with his personal car to take photos and video shoots;

 

Detail-oriented and motivated to learn upcoming trends.
